Ministry for information releases the National Wind-solar Hybrid Policy for all stakeholders and the general public.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has pledged to encourage development through different schemes and programmes and offer financial incentives to wind-solar hybrid projects.
Solar and wind power being variable in nature pose certain challenges to grid security and stability. Whereas, studies revealed that in India solar and wind resources are complementary to each other and hybridization of these two technologies would help in minimizing the variability apart from optimally utilizing the infrastructure including land and transmission system.
The Policy provides a framework for the promotion of large grid-connected wind-solar PV hybrid systems and also seeks to promote new hybrid projects as well as hybridisation of existing wind/solar projects.
